WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCES

Caring for children is a very important position, and for this reason, national regulations require all staff to hold an appropriate Working with Children check. Each state of Australia has a different name for it, including the Blue Card, Police Clearance or a Working with Children Check. Please find below a useful table for you to determine what you need to make kids smile with Camp Australia.

State by State Requirements

Department of Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Check and Catholic Police Check

To get your Department of Communities Social Inclusion (DCSI) Check in South Australia, you need to complete the application form that we have supplied under links. This has been prefilled with Camp Australia’s details for you to make the process easier. You can then send the signed and authorised form to the DCSI Screening Unit.
As this is a paid position in a child-related field, you will be required to pay $101.75.
Your application should be processed within 30 business days. The process can take over eight weeks if you have a common surname, a criminal record, if it is a busy period, or if your form is incomplete or not correctly filled in.

To get your Catholic Police Check in South Australia, you need to send your approved DCSI Check through to our recruitment team at recruitment@campaustralia.com.au.
This check is free, and your application should be processed within five days, however in some cases it can take up to six weeks.

Working with Vulnerable People Check

To get your Working with Vulnerable People Check in Australian Capital Territory, you need to complete the online application, and print this out. You can lodge your application by bringing the signed application form and proof of identity to an Access Canberra shopfront, or post the signed form, certified proof of identity, and two photos to Access Canberra’s Background Screening unit.
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $76.
Your application should be processed within ten days, yet it can take longer in busy periods, or if you have past criminal activity.

Working with Children Check

To get your Working with Children Check in New South Wales, you need to complete the online application and receive your applications (APP) number. You must then take your application number along with proof of identity to a NSW Motor Registry, RMS Agency, or Service NSW office (not your local Council). 
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $80.
Your application should be processed within a few days, and your number will be emailed to you. However, please allow four weeks before being in contact to enquire about your application's progress, as it can take longer if you have a common surname or a criminal record.

Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)

To get your Working with Children Clearance (including the Ochre Card), you need to obtain an application either online, at a Northern Territory Police Station, Safe NT, or at a Territory Business Centre. You must complete all parts of the application, and sign and date the Declaration at the end of the form. The completed and signed form, accompanied by a passport sized photo and certified identification must be lodged either in person at a Northern Territory Police Station, Safe NT, or at a Territory Business Centre, or mailed to Safe NT.
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $57.

Your application should be processed within two to four weeks

Blue Card Services

To get your Blue Card in Queensland, you need to complete the online application form, and email a scanned version to our recruitment team at recruitment@campaustralia.com.au. Our team will take it from here!
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $81.40.
Your application should be processed and sent to you within four weeks. The process will take longer if you have a common surname, a criminal record, or if your form is incomplete or not correctly filled in.

Work with Vulnerable People (Children)

To get your Work with Vulnerable People (Children) Registration in Tasmania, you need to complete the online application form, then lodge it at a Service Tasmania. You must take the application summary and receipt that you printed after completing the online application form, and documents that prove your identity with you.
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $108.50.

Working with Children Check

To get your Working with Children Check in Victoria, you need to complete the online application form, then lodge it at a participating Australia Post retail outlet. You must take the application summary and receipt that you printed after completing the online application form, a passport-size photo of yourself, and documents that prove your identity with you. 
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $116.14.
Your application should be processed within two to three weeks, and will be mailed to you two weeks later. However, please allow twelve weeks before being in contact to enquire about your application's progress, as it can take longer if you have a common surname or a criminal record.

Working With Children Check

To get your Working with Children Check in Western Australia, you need to complete the WWC Check form, which can be obtained from an authorised Australia Post outlet, or alternatively you can contact the WWC Screening Unit. If you then email recruitment@campaustralia.com.au, the recruitment team will work with you to arrange the organisational details component.
You then lodge this form at an authorised Australia Post outlet, along with identification for a 100 Point Proof of Identity Check.
As this is a paid position, you will be required to pay $82.
Your application should be processed and your WWC Card should be sent to you within two weeks. The process could take longer if you have a common surname, a criminal record, or if your form is incomplete or not correctly filled in.
